Yeah...

...so, I don't want to live in Asia any longer than I have to, but I googled jobs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and with a Master's degree and a year of experience teaching English overseas, I qualify for jobs that pay $7,000 USD/mo. (tax-free) including a free apartment. I think you also get a faucet in your kitchen that pours oil down the sink because, you know, why not? On the downside, I would have to pay for my own airfare to and from the UAE, use lots of sunscreen, and not be able to wear any nice winter clothes for twelve months (except for when I spend my Christmas holidays in Paris or Vienna or Prague, of course).

I want to live in Toronto. I really do. So putting it off for a year so that I can pay off all of my student debt and make a substantial down payment on a condo (as well as having access to cheap flights to anywhere in Europe and North Africa) makes sense, doesn't it?

I've just finished my second week of the winter holiday schedule (Korean kids' holiday, not mine, obviously) so I've only got two more weeks of getting up at 7:30 ahead of me and then I'm back to the familiar routine of sleeping until noon and staying up until 4:30. Morning people are weirdos.

Well son I would be the last one to suggest you come home to Canada right after your Asian contract so that you can hurry up and pay huge rent monies in Toronto and be amongst the highest taxed residents on the planet. So enjoy your life in any country. Eat lots and learn all you can. We will always be here for you. Forever, your biggest fan-Mom

Walk away from a year of relatively enjoyable work (I suspect that your students in Dubai won't be quite like your Korean kimchi monsters) with an easy $40K (that's if you spend like spending is going out of style)? Sign me up. TO ain't goin' anywhere.
